Adelaide, Australia: Call out to housing advocates, social housing providers, landlords, in fact anyone who can assist….
Although all I dearly want is to be back in my Northfield townhouse, it seems CHL don’t want to reach a friendly, amicable resolution.
Therefore, I am throwing this out to anyone, who genuinely can, and want to help. I need to be in my own home, in a permanent, long-term arrangement.
The following lists what I’m after. This isn’t me being picky – all features are what my Northfield townhouse had (has):
- Large townhouse (2 storey)
- 2 bedrooms both with BIRs
- New or reasonably new build (Northfield one built in 2020 by Fairmont Homes)
- 2 toilets (one downstairs, one upstairs)
- Separate bath and shower in bathroom
- Kitchen with full size (60cm) dishwasher provision, double (1 & ¾) sink, and bar
- Open plan kitchen / dining / living
- Mixer taps throughout
- Soft close cabinet doors and drawers throughout
- Ducted zoned Reverse cycle AC (Northfield was Daikin brand)
- Solar panels
- Private yard / courtyard (does not need to be large)
- Own laundry (separate room)
- Garage with internal access to house
- Carpet to staircase and upstairs
May consider a large single storey house or unit.
Not interested in granny flats, apartment blocks, studios or 1 bedroom. Although I am single, 2 bedroom is my minimum.
About the rent...I’m 52, and on a pension, so full rent isn’t an option, hence the need for social housing.
With CHL, I was paying 25% of my DSP, plus full amount of rent assistance. Based on the current payment rates, I would be paying around $519 per fortnight if I was still with them.
I don’t qualify for ‘affordable housing’ rentals, so they’re out. Anyone on a Centrelink payment wouldn’t.
I have a social housing history of 24 years. January 1992 – October 1999, and November 2008 – January 2025, with no issues between myself, SA Housing Trust or Community Housing Limited.
