My name is Jamie and I was born in 1974 in Port Pirie. My first few years were in Campbelltown (Adelaide), and then I grew up in Melrose, where I went to school at Melrose Primary School, and Booleroo Centre High School.
I left home January 1992 at 17 (turned 18 in July), moving to Port Pirie, where I stayed until October 1999. This is when I moved to Adelaide.
I am hearing impaired (both ears), which these days is rated as severe to profound, and is something I was born with. I also am blind in the right eye, which I have had since I was a baby.
Nowadays, I am on medications for blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes and after my recent mini-stroke, blood thinners.
The diabetes medication is only from last year, and up until then was diet managed. Never had a cause for my blood pressure, medications for which I have been on for over 20 years. Personally, I suspect it might have something to do with having Glandular Fever (known as Mono in the U.S.) in 2000. I also was a pedestrian who was hit by a car that ran a red light only months after the Glandular Fever.
My interests are fairly simple really. I have always loved music, and have a wide taste. Ranging from 1950’s to early 2000’s. The bulk of my main music interest is 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s. From pop, rock to country and disco/dance. Never been interested in metal or rap.
The other interest is DXing – the reception of long distance signals. Medium Wave (AM broadcast), Shortwave, and FM broadcast bands and sometimes beyond. Furthest reception on the FM band to the west has been Perth, Geraldton and Albany, Cairns to the north, and New Zealand to the east. All from here in Adelaide.
I do enjoy socialising, meeting people, and having a casual drink at the pub or attending an art opening. However, I have slowed down a lot now, and having the mini-stroke is slowing me down more, as I need to take care of my health.
All quite boring really😀
